Three lovely ladies agreed to meet
On a Spring day on a Lisburn street
Went for a coffee and had a chat
Oh, you know, about this and that
They spoke of friends they hadn’t seen
Enthused over places they had been
Showed photos of family members
As each one sighed and sadly remembers
Days gone by when they were young
Songs they knew that they had sung
Old loves resurrected
Family histories bisected
Tales of loved ones far away
Tales of visits home one day
Our trio reminisced
About opportunities they had missed
Infatuation and a broken heart
From a love affair that didn’t start
Friends who have died, those who are ill
Those that are with us still
After forty years these three friends met
Their catching up not over yet
They’ll stay in touch, friends once more
Just as close as they were before
