AN ARTIST IMPRESSION (on Tony’s back)

Now I’ve written before about Tony and Chris

You’ll remember the kitchen ceiling

Well, they fixed it up right

It’s now smooth and white

The outside of the house is now peeling!

They look at each other and shake their heads

“My God! this is getting us down.

We thought we were finished

Our work had diminished

We could’ve gone for a pint at the Crown.”

But alas! there is more work left to be done

Those ledges look quite grey

Some other time

For a gin and lime

Thoughts of pints have just flown away.

Tony stands on the ground and holds the paint

Chris, he climbs the ladder

Tony’s afraid to get high

At least near the sky

To Chris it really don’t matter

Time moves on, their task nearly done

Those ledges look pearly white

WHITE! Tony starts to scream

“The colour is cream!”

Chris falls off the ladder with fright.

Now if anyone sees our two heroes tonight

They’re not drowning their sorrows in beer

Chris landed WHACK!

On Tony’s poor BACK!

They’re laid up for weeks  I fear.

There’ll be no more painting for Tony and Chris

Their artist’s career is o’er!

Never more will they rush

To pick up a brush

Their poor little muscles are sore!

Happy Birthday, Tony. We miss you.
